Is same sex marriage a civil right? 

Civil rights are to assure people of different races get the same protection under law.  Race is an unchangeable human trait, defined by DNA and observable at birth.  Homosexuality is a "sexual feeling", or a "sexual preference", which can change.  It is not hardwired by DNA, and is not observable at birth.  If a "sexual feeling" is categorized as a civil right, then should we not include the following "sexual feelings" or "sexual preferences" under the protective umbrella of civil rights:

Pedophilia?

Incest?

     Polygamy?

Having a certain "feeling" does not mean one needs to be governed by it.  We are human beings and we can decide not to act on sexual drives or feelings.  This is the basis of all moral behaviors and all civilized societies. Legalizing a sexually behavior by putting it into the category of a civil right, distorts the noble purpose of civil rights.
